Contact UsThe Invisalign Process
The process of Invisalign begins with an initial consultation, where we will digitize your child’s smile and create a customized treatment plan. Next, we’ll send this digital plan and any necessary impressions to a lab where the custom, clear aligners will be created. These aligners will be worn for about twenty hours each day and switched out every one to two weeks. Visits to our office will typically be scheduled every six to eight weeks. Gradually, the teeth will shift into their desired positions and treatment will be complete.
Cost of Invisalign
Our team is committed to providing affordable Invisalign to the San Antonio community. Teeth straightening can be a bit intimidating when thinking in financial terms, but we believe that every patient deserves a smile they can be proud of. That’s why we offer in-house financing to divide the cost into manageable monthly payments. We also accept CareCredit® patient financing, which allows you to pay for treatment in full and make payments over an extended period of time.
We also offer comprehensive metal braces as a more traditional alternative to Invisalign. Contact our San Antonio pediatric dentist’s office to schedule an orthodontic consultation and give your child the gift of a straight smile!
Invisalign Aftercare
After Invisalign, retainers are commonly used to prevent teeth from gradually shifting back into their previous positions. Our team will recommend proper maintenance depending on your child’s specific treatment plan. Wearing retainers for the recommended time and frequency is critical to ensure optimal results.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you care for clear aligners?
Clear aligners need to be scrubbed with a soft-bristle toothbrush and liquid soap at least once a day to ensure that they remain clear and clean. It’s also a good idea to soak aligners in Invisalign cleaning solution to kill harmful bacteria. Aligners should always be rinsed off with water after they are taken out, but not with hot water, as heat can warp the custom shape. Patients should also either brush their teeth or rinse their mouth out before placing their aligners back in, as keeping the teeth clean is also essential for keeping aligners clean.
Can aligners just be worn at night?
Invisalign aligners are not designed to only be worn at night. If you or your child begin Invisalign treatment, you should aim to wear your aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours per day, or any time you are not eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth. While some aligner brands are only worn at night, Invisalign is able to help patients achieve straighter teeth in an average of 12 to 18 months because they are worn for the majority of the day and night. Wearing your aligners as often as possible is crucial for keeping your treatment plan on track.
Who should not get Invisalign?
Invisalign requires some responsibility on the part of the patient to keep track of their clear aligners, wear them often enough, and keep them clean, which is why younger or less mature patients are not always ideal candidates for Invisalign. Clear aligners can be used to treat most types of malocclusion, even severe cases, but there are some rare cases where metal braces need to be used to straighten teeth instead of clear aligners. In general, however, Invisalign is a great option for anyone who is committed to achieving a straighter smile!
